Structure, Spectroscopy and Photophysics of Carotenoids: The Peculiar Story of Peridinin

Time and Date

4:00pm - 5:00pm, Nov 08, 2012

The Biodesign Institute, Auditorium B105

Address: 727 E. Tyler St. Tempe AZ 85287

Dr. Harry Frank, Board of Trustees Distinguished Professor, Department of Chemistry, University of Connecticut

Hear a summary of the current understanding of the excited-state energies and ultrafast dynamics of carotenoids in solution and a detailed description of the properties of one specific carotenoid, peridinin, which is found in the peridinin-Chl-protein (PCP) from the dinoflagellate, Amphidinium carterae.

Refreshments are provided at 3:45 p.m. Dr. Tom Moore and ASU's Center for Bioenergy and Photosynthesis are hosting this seminar.
