Center for Biosignatures Discovery Automation, Biodesign Institute

The Center for Biosignatures Discovery Automation (CBDA) in the Biodesign Institute at Arizona State University has an immediate opening for Graduate Research Assistant(s) in microfabrication. The selected candidates will work with chemists, physicists, biologists and engineers on MEMS process development, micro-device design and fabrication, and micro-sensor integration.

1.BS degree in science or engineering (beginning MS or PhD EE student preferred)

2.Superior academic qualifications (GPA and GRE scores)

3.Fundamental knowledge or hands-on experience  in the design, fabrication, testing ,packaging and characterization of MEMS devices

4.Proven team player and innovator with an ability to work in a fast-paced environment

5.Ability and willingness to work at least 20 hours/week


1.One or more years hands on experience in at least two of the following CAD photo-mask design, fabrication  Contact photo-lithography Wet-chemical processing RIE/DRIE etching Chemical vapor deposition SEM/AFM imaging Thin film characterization E-beam or thermal evaporating or plasma sputtering Device packaging (Wafer dicing,  adhesive bonding,  flip chip bonding)

2.One or more years hand-on experience on polymer film (SU8, PDMS, KMPR and Polyimide) processing and characterization, such as film deposition, etch method and profiling techniques.

3.One or more years experience on COMSOL or similar simulation software
