The unifying theme for our research hinges at the interface of chemistry, biology, and materials science. The purpose is to create novel entities that can be used as tools in biological research. These tools span from imaging probes to biosensors to gene delivery vehicles to artificial proteins. In addition, we are interested in the effects that tumor microenvironment plays in remodeling cell surface architecture.
Recently, at Arizona State University’s Biodesign Institute, N.J. Tao and collaborators have found a way to make a key electrical component on a phenomenally tiny scale. Their single-molecule diode is described in this week’s online edition of Nature Chemistry.
