Bio
As the director of Finance & Operations for the Biodesign
Institute , Jeffrey Darbut oversees multiple administrative functions
including finance, sponsored projects planning & control
(post-award activities), facility maintenance, building security,
employee health & safety and information technology services. As a
member of the strategic planning body for the Institute, Jeff is
responsible for identifying and developing financial and business
plans that further the research mission and business goals of the
Institute. An important new area of his involvement is the
creation of the "Biodesign Impact Accelerator" program to
promote new start-up companies sponsored by Biodesign. Jeff will
continue to work to develop and implement internal and external
funding programs critical to the growth of the Institute.
His professional career spans over thirty years. He is a seasoned
executive with progressive finance and operations experience with
global Fortune 1000 companies, international operations,
private-equity portfolio companies and startup businesses. Prior to
this appointment, Darbut was a partner with Tatum LLC, a national
financial consulting firm. He has worked as the Chief Financial
Officer, Controller and other financial and general management
positions of public, emerging-growth, and international companies in
the manufacturing, program management, new product development,
contract manufacturing and capital equipment segments for such
companies as, SPX Corporation, Parker-Hannifin Corporation, and
Honeywell International.
Darbut holds a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from the
Arizona State University and a Bachelor of Science (BS) in Accounting
from the University of Pittsburgh. He is a member of the Financial
Executive Institute (FEI), the Institute of Management Accountants
(IMA), Finance Leaders Association (FLA) and the ASU Alumni Association.
