Bio
As director of Strategic Affairs for the Biodesign Institute at
Arizona State University, Kimberly Ovitt, APR, is a member of
the leadership team for the Institute and is responsible for
identifying and developing efforts that further the research mission
and business goals of the Institute. This includes enhancing
relationships with the public at large; prospective donors,
industrial, clinical and academic partners, the local business
community; students; potential and current faculty and staff; and
members of the K-12 educational system. Ms. Ovitt oversees several
departmental functions, including marketing, public relations,
outreach/community relations, internal communication, events
management and fundraising programs. Ms. Ovitt joined the Biodesign
Institute in 2004, and brings 30 years of experience to this role.
Prior to coming to ASU, she served for nine years directing
marketing communication efforts for Phoenix Children's Hospital, one
of the nation's 10 largest children's hospitals. Other prior
experience includes nine years employed by the City of Mesa,
Arizona, and five years working for several large general hospital
systems. Ovitt graduated summa cum laude from ASU in 1981 with a BA in
communication. She was accredited by the Public Relations Society of
America in 1988 and served as president of the Phoenix PRSA chapter in 1991.
